This week, we have been learning about the comprehension strategy of determining importance. We have learned that this is a skill that we will need in all aspects of our life. The children had fun helping me decide what items from my huge purse were really important to fit into the little purse that I am taking on my trip to Florida at the end of next week.
This week, I would love for the children and parents to respond about times that they have had to use the skill of determining importance.

ReplyDeleteMorgan and I were talking about this and she was telling me about a time when she had to decide between going to the movies with Maria or going ice skating with Zandra -- since both were at the same time and she wanted to do both. She decided that it was more important to go to the movies with Maria because they had already planned to go to the movies together and she had told Maria that she would do it, even though ice skating sounded fun, too.
ReplyDeleteMy brother had to choose between going swimming for swim team or Prairieland ice skating. This was a hard choice because he really likes swimming and he was going to be able to set times for swimming at this meet, but he really likes skating too. He had to think awhile. He is still thinking about it. If it were me, I would do ice skating because he likes ice skating and his friend, Jordan is going skating too. Also, he can set his times at the next meet.
ReplyDeleteI had to pick a big souvenir or little souvenir in Disney. I picked the little souvenir because it is light. If I picked the big souvenir I would get tired faster than I would with the little one. If I got tired we would have to leave. Picking the small one meant we could stay longer.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when I had to decide if packing everything I wanted to pack , or packing everything I needed to pack, was most important. I picked packing everything I needed to pack because things you need are more important than the things you want but don't need.

I picked my Valentines Day party.Well really my daddy picked my Valentines Day party because he didn't want me to miss my Valentines Day party .But I really wanted to go the funeral.But the Valentines Day party was fun too.
ReplyDeleteGrace said...Once I had some money and there was my favorite toy at the store, but my mom's birthday was coming up so I had to decide if it was more important for me to buy myself a toy or buy my mom a gift. I decided to get my mom a gift for her birthday.
